How To: Spiral Galaxy Cuff

How To Do:

Spiral Galaxy Cuff by Starstruck-Sadie

Spiral Patterned Galaxy Cuff

Following up my earlier "how to" with it in a different pattern.
This is almost the same as the galaxy cuff but you are applying your colors in a spiral and not circular pattern.
This seems to be popular when someone wants a star themed package.
As always questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome

Materials

Pony beads
Elastic String (do not use fishing line)
Scissors
Needle (optional but helps)
Clear Fingernail Polish (optional but when applied to knots it helps them stay tight)

Let's Start

Once again start by making a single of 32 beads.

Row 1

Making sure you are thread through a bead on your single, string on 4 beads of first color.
Count three beads on single then thread through 4th.
String on 4 beads of your next color.
Count three beads on single then thread through 4th.
Keep going all the way around.
You can have up to eight groups of colors.
Tie off if desired.

Row 2

Pick an edge bead, mine are marked in pink of the picture above,
Thread through edge bead, string on 5 beads of the color you are coming out of.
Thread through edge bead in the same spot on next color (if it is the far left edge bead make sure it is the far left in your next group)
String on 5 beads of this new color (remember its the color you are coming out of)
Thread into edge bead of next group.
Repeat around
Tie off if desired.

Carry On

Thread through edge bead, string on beads (adding one to each group for each row [Ex: row 3 would have 6 beads instead of 5 and row 4 would have 7])
Remember to string on beads of the color you are coming out of.
Tie off when desired.
Continue this until your piece is to the size of your liking (most go to row 4 with 7 beads to a group)

How to: Standard Galaxy Cuff

Kandi How To:

Gold and Pink Galaxy Cuffs by ikandiaddict

Standard Galaxy Cuffs

Lately I have noticed that everyone is making or wanting to make Galaxy Cuffs.
I thought that I would like to kick off my How To segments with something that is trending right now
There will also be a follow up How To on Thursday which will explain how to create a spiral effect to your galaxy cuff. As always questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome!

Materials

Pony Beads (of your chosen colors)
Scissors
Elastic String (do not use fishing line)
Clear Fingernail Polish (apply to knots to help them stay together)

To Start

Begin with making a single of 32 beads.

First Row

Make sure you are thread through a bead.
String on 4 beads
On single count 3 beads and then thread through 4th

String on 4 more beads
On single count 3 beads and thread through 4th
Repeat this all the way around

I tie off after every row but you do not need to do this.

Second Row

Thread into an "edge" bead. They are marked in the photo above by the red line.

String on 5 beads then thread into the same position bead in the next group.
The picture above marks the first bead as red and the one you thread into as yellow
Ex: if you are going left you pick the far left bead in the group then you string into the far left bead on the second group.

Continue around using the same pattern.
The beads you thread into are marked in different colors in the image above.

Again the beads you thread into are marked in the image above but this shows them all the way around instead of a section.
Again I tie off after every row but it is completely up to you.

Row 3

This row repeats the second only you thread on 6 beads instead of 5.

Continuing on

Continue to add to your piece until you reach your desired size.
Remember to add to the bead count of every row.
The average size is about 7 beads to a grow which is about 4 rows.

Owls in the Night

Owl Cuffs by Veechhorng

Welcome everyone to my first real blog post!
After thinking long and hard about what to post about I landed on Owls.
Owls are extremely popular among the EDM community probably due to the creatures position as Insominac's mascot.
The owl was announced as the new mascot in December of 2011 along with a contest to win tickets to White Wonderland.
Owls seem to symbolize resting during the day and going to events at night.
Many people also think of the owl as a friendly creature which may also be a reason why the owl is important to our culture.
Kandi kids and Ravers tend to be the friendliest people that someone could come across.
Kandi itself is seen as a symbol of friendship.
Often someone pours good vibes and love into every piece they make!
Its well known that owls have extremely large eyes and some say these eyes can see into your soul.
This too can be tied into the EDM culture!
Many kandi kids and ravers are spiritual.
Some meditate and use stones in order to heal their spirits.

Perhaps posting some terminology and helpful tips?
Hmmm?!?!
